Our Commitment to Third Party

Treatment Driven by Science
Physicians Neck & Back Clinics (PNBC) believes it
has an inherent responsibility to its patients, referral
sources, and third party payors to demonstrate
through scientific evidence the effectiveness of the care
we deliver. To date PNBC personnel have published over
40 scientific studies for the primary prevention and treatment
of spinal disorders (click

Further, our
dataBACK™
Outcomes Collection and Reporting System provides referral
sources and third party payors with current and ongoing
aggregate data that quantifies the effectiveness of our
treatment outcomes.
Health Care Reutilization
Even if treatment for chronic spinal disorders is effective
in the short term, the overall value of such treatment
must be questioned if patients find themselves back in
their doctors’ office six months later for the
same problem. PNBC defines this as ‘health care
reutilization.’ We believe one of the most important
measures of clinical success is the degree to which our
discharged patients reutilize the health care system
for their spinal problem. Data published by PNBC demonstrates
that one year following treatment, patients who complete
an aggressive rehabilitation program at our clinics are
67% less likely reutilize the health care system for
their spinal problem than patients evaluated by PNBC
but electing other treatment methods. This low health care
reutilization demonstrates the effectiveness of our care,
as well as our commitment to teaching patients self-management
of their spinal condition without the need for ongoing
medical care.
Principles
We Stand Upon
1) PNBC physicians will only place
patients into our physical rehabilitation programs
based upon medical need.
2) PNBC’s Number One priority
is excellence in patient care.
3) Our treatment is
driven by science, not myth.
4) We demonstrate our cost-effective,
quality treatment through data published in peer-reviewed
medical journals.
5) At any time, we are willing to compare
the cost effectiveness and long-term success of our patient
outcomes with any
other health care provider offering treatment for chronic
spinal disorders.
6) PNBC will not enable patient medical
dependency through ongoing passive treatment of chronic
spinal disorders.
7) Our published data demonstrate that
most patients suffering from chronic spinal pain can
avoid expensive
and often
unnecessary surgical intervention through an aggressive
reconditioning program. We believe in most cases that
patients should fail a spinal reconditioning program
prior to undergoing
surgery.
8) Our ‘return to work’ philosophy
is straightforward: We believe that returning to work
is an important part
of the healing process. Our patients are encouraged to
exercise through discomfort and take responsibility for
their spinal health, including a return to normal activities
and work, as soon as possible.
9) We are honest and
ethical in all of our dealings.
10) We believe that
developing strong relationships with third party payors
is critical to our success
as a health
care provider. We view third party payors as partners,
not adversaries.
Testimonials
“The PNBC physician reports of
clinical findings, evaluations and recommendations are
thorough and concise.
Patient compliance and effort in the program is well documented
and communicated. Objective data gives the patient immediate
feedback on progress that reinforces their participation
in the program. I have seen outstanding results in patients
who were told there was nothing more available to help
them recover from their injury. Health cannot be given
to anyone, it demands active participation and PNBC’s
program embodies this principle.” VONI G., RTW RISK
MANAGEMENT
“As a practitioner of workers’ compensation
and long-term disability rehabilitation for 20 years, I
have had dozens of clients complete the program at PNBC.
Without question it has helped facilitate the recovery
of many of these clients. PNBC has become my preferred
choice for clients with neck and/or back problems. It is
truly an excellent, conservative care option that produces
results.” DEAN W., QRC
“I sincerely appreciate the excellent work performed
by your staff with the clients I have referred over the
years. The program stresses the importance of getting better
to feel better. The patients believe this when they see
their progress demonstrated to them and find this encouraging.
Too much focus elsewhere stresses passive treatment – drugs,
and injections – leaving patients feeling helpless
and out of control. By actively participating in PNBC’s
program, patients sense they have control over their recovery,
start getting better and eventually start feeling better
as a result. This confidence results in a positive outcome
where the patient is more likely to have a successful return
to work.” DAVE H., QRC, CORVEL CORPORATION
“In my 20 years working as a QRC,
I have found that PNBC offers the best kind of treatment
for my clients’ neck
and back injuries. It is not invasive. It enlists the efforts
of the client. It provides education for ongoing back health
and strength. It reduces pain and allows the patients to
be more active. It frequently helps the patient to avoid
expensive and unsuccessful injections and surgeries. AND,
it is tremendously cost-effective!” SONJIE J., QUR,
DEPT. OF EMPLOYEE RELATIONS, STATE OF MINNESOTA
“The feedback from our patients
and our payors on the service excellence and clinical
outcomes of this program
has been very positive.” SUE W., DISTRICT DIRECTOR,
